New Jersey is the latest in a long line of states to grapple with lead contamination in its water systems—with Newark, the state’s largest municipality, hit with widespread problems over the past year. While replacing lead service lines requires time, money and strategy, the community is working to provide residents a temporary solution: water filters.
According to WQP, both Newark and neighboring Bloomfield are providing water filters capable of removing lead free of charge to residents with elevated water lead levels or those identified to be at risk by having lead service lines.
