The Northwest Indiana Times reports that residents in East Chicago are pushing the city and the EPA to provide water filters and/or bottled water. This comes a few weeks after EPA testing found high leads levels in the water of some area homes.
While the city says the water is safe to drink, bath in, and cook with, residents aren’t so sure. The article notes that, “Similar concerns were raised Saturday by residents living elsewhere in East Chicago, which, like many older cities, are grappling with aging lead service lines.”
