The Environmental Protection Agency’s Administrator, Michael Regan revealed a Strategic Roadmap that the agency would use to combate PFAS. The Roadmap comes as a culmination of years of research on behalf of the EPA and independent studies. It focuses on three key areas: investments in research, immediate action against PFAS, and contamination cleanup. Officials from the agency and on Capitol Hill voiced their support for this new plan in an announcement published by the EPA.
Accompanying the Roadmap is a requirement for PFAS manufacturers to provide the EPA with information on all types of PFAS chemicals. These tests will allow the agency to have access to data regarding thousands of PFAS variations. They can use this info to inform later treatment plans and better combat the issue. The new initiative will be taken on by every level of government, and takes a crucial step towards the promises of the Biden Administration. Can they finally make a change?
