Texans still facing disrupted water supplies

Over a week after a wave of freezing weather, nearly 8 million Texans are still experiencing issues with their water supply. The weather caused power outages across the state, which was restored over the weekend. Following the power outages, boil advisories were mandated in favor of public safety. Over 1,200 public water systems were affected by the storm, in about 202 different counties state wide. Many public water systems are still non-operational, affecting 33,000 people across Texas. In response to the water shortage, over 3.5 million water bottles were distributed to residents by the military and National Guard. Aproximatley $5 million dollars has been raised to help with recovery of the state, and president Joe Biden approved a major disaster declaration.
