As we get ready to close the 2020 chapter, there is still a lot to accomplish with the treatment of PFOA/PFOS within the U.S. President-elect Joe Biden is expected, according to an article published by Water Online, to further take a stance against PFAS contamination within the drinking water supplies of communities across the country. A quote from Bloomberg law stated the President-elect “would be expected to set standards for both of those chemicals and possibly other per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, that states and federal agencies are finding in drinking water.”
PFAS are dangerous chemicals that can cause severe and long-lasting health effects when consumed. Most of these harmful chemicals contaminated drinking water supplies due to various industrial operations. While there are currently no strict PFAS contamination limits, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to have a set limit for PFAS sometime within 2021.
