This article from The Detroit News reports that Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt is concerned that Americans are not “sufficiently aware” of the threat posed by lead in drinking water, especially the effects it can have on children.
In the wake of water crises we’ve seen in places like Flint, Michigan, Pruitt believes our country should be making a greater effort to proactively prevent lead contamination. Pruitt is quoted in the article saying:
“I really believe that we ought to set a goal as a country that, over the next 10 years, that we ought to work with respect to investments in our infrastructure to eradicate lead in our drinking water.”
