Eau Claire city officials detected PFAS above acceptable levels in 4 wells. It becomes another Wisconsin city to struggle with the forever chemicals. Fortunately, at this phase in the battle with PFAS, cities have gained an understanding of how to handle such a crisis. The city immediately shut down the four wells and then commenced biweekly testing of all nearby water sources. Their top priority is now to ensure that the chemicals do not spread. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the recent tests came directly after a new hazard index was set. Citizens in Eau Claire still have options for drinking water, fortunately. Hopefully their quick response will prevent the forever chemicals from infecting any further water sources.
