Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm recently discovered toxins within their wells. This forced them to seek help from public water systems. Local experts cautioned nearby well owners that the contaminants can spread easily to other private wells. Governor DeWine has asked the state EPA to look into the origin of these contaminants.
24 drinking systems within the Dayton region have detected chemicals, and testing continues on private wells. Fortunately Aullwood has found help from the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District for their water troubles. The organization has teamed with Union to extend their public water lines to the property. According to the Dayton Daily News, this process will cost approximately $3 million, over half of which will be covered by the Ohio EPA.
