The 13th annual AWWA Tap Water Taste Test took place at the Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE17) in Philadelphia on June 12-14. Competing cities were winners of regional tap water taste tests. The competition rules require that participating cities must not have incurred any state or federal drinking water violations during the previous 12 months.
Each competing city provided samples of their tap water. All samples are served at room temperature and a panel of judges scored each sample. More than two dozen cities from throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico competed in this year’s competition.
And the winner of the 2017 AWWA “Best of the Best” Tap Water Taste Test is… The City of Greely, Colorado. Greely also took home the People’s Choice Award, chosen by conference attendees. According to Water Quality Products, Greely “has two conventional water treatment plants that provide water for the 103,000 citizens of Greeley and surrounding communities.”
Last year’s winner of the AWWA Tap Water Taste Test was Bloomington Minnesota
